How MaiMusic grows
The loop the business runs on, the funnel from first contact to a paying customer, and what ships over the runway this round buys.
The flywheel
Each stage feeds the next. The highlighted stage is the one input this round buys — the first dedicated commercial capacity the company will have had: sync, brand and licensing outreach, and release marketing. Without it the catalog grows and is heard, and the licensing that should follow stays occasional.
- 01 Release across the roster feeds → A larger public catalog
- 02 A larger public catalog feeds → Heard on the platform and the artist homes
- 03 Heard on the platform and the artist homes feeds → Licensed and commissioned usage
- 04 Licensed and commissioned usage feeds → Royalties paid, margin retained funded by this round
- 05 Royalties paid, margin retained feeds → A roster worth joining and worth returning to
- 06 A roster worth joining and worth returning to feeds → Release across the roster
The customer funnel
The stages from first contact to a paying customer and on to expansion. Every stage is named. No figure is attached to any of them, because MaiMusic publishes none and this page does not invent one.
| Stage | Figure | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Reached — the free educational surface, the public catalog and the artist homes | Not published | Plan assumption |
| Listening — a first play on the platform | Not published | Plan assumption |
| Registered — an account with playlists, history and royalty transparency | Not published | Plan assumption |
| Enquiry — a licensing, production, consulting or training request | Not published | Plan assumption |
| First paid engagement — a licence, a commission, a consulting engagement or a cohort | Not published | Plan assumption |
| Repeat and expansion — a returning buyer, a subscription, a broader publishing relationship | Not published | Plan assumption |
Where the company’s own records support a conversion figure, it is available to investors on request. Nothing on this page is a measurement.
The roadmap
Four swimlanes over the runway the round buys, in periods derived from it. Dates are relative to close rather than calendar dates, and every item names the use-of-funds line it ships against.
- Release cycle restarted across the roster: production, mastering, artwork, metadata, delivery. Funded by: Catalog and artist development
- Milestone · Rights workstream stood up: clearance, registration and metadata discipline on the released catalog. Funded by: Rights, licensing and royalty administration
- Player, artist homes and catalog delivery hardened for licensed use. Funded by: Platform and infrastructure
- Second release wave, with sync-ready masters and stems as a standard deliverable. Funded by: Catalog and artist development
- Milestone · Royalty administration operating as routine: works registered, plays tracked, payouts made. Funded by: Rights, licensing and royalty administration
- Catalog grown until coverage across genres and world regions is a licensing argument rather than a claim. Funded by: Catalog and artist development
- Rights and payout rails proven at volume rather than at sample size. Funded by: Rights, licensing and royalty administration
- Platform cost per additional listener held near the cost of the bytes. Funded by: Platform and infrastructure
- Milestone · First dedicated commercial capacity in place; sync, brand and licensing outreach begins. Funded by: Audience and commercial development
- Milestone · Licensing pipeline worked from enquiry to signed licence, on both catalogs. Funded by: Audience and commercial development
- Commissioned production engagements taken on for media, brand and agency buyers. Funded by: Audience and commercial development
- Milestone · Repeat and expansion: returning buyers, subscription licensing, broader publishing relationships. Funded by: Audience and commercial development
- The small human core and the AI production system operating the release cadence together. Funded by: Catalog and artist development
- Consulting and training delivered against the enquiries the free educational surface generates. Funded by: Audience and commercial development
- Roster expanded where a strategic role is unfilled, never because an act happens to be available. Funded by: Catalog and artist development
- Milestone · Round closed — in full or at the minimum viable close — and the reserve set aside unallocated. Funded by: Reserve
- Licensed income recognised and revenue concentration tracked per line and per buyer. Funded by: Audience and commercial development
- Milestone · Runway ends with a next-round or self-funding decision taken on evidence rather than on hope. Funded by: Reserve
Everything on this page is forward-looking: it describes a plan, not a result, and the plan is contingent on the round closing at or above its minimum viable close. The periods are derived from the runway on the ask page, so a change there moves this page with it.
